Beauty and Brains

There is this little young girl whom from the first day we met has never ceased to amuse me. Not only is she so beautiful but also very bright and focused in life.
We met at a party at my house and when leaving, she asked for my number. I thought it was a moment of "i know what i want and i go out and get it".

After a few days she calls and we do a post party redition. Talk later drifts into business. In a few days we were speaking big sums of money deals. All we planned didnt work out but we made some money together.
All this time, i overlooked her beauty and was simply mesmerised by her brains. This girl has done almost all kinds of job. Work at the parliament building, hotelier, freight business, airport handling, you name it. And all this time she is in school doing her University education.
One day i ask why she is working her A** off and not living like normal University students. Her response, "my dad told me i should be 5 times richer than him". Her dad is a prominent business guy in Uganda and has appeared in various editorials as one of the top 10 richest guys in Uganda.

Today over lunch and catching up after a long time, she tells me she's leaving the country for further studies. I take a look at her documents. Then her passport ..........Oh My God, this girl is JUST 22years.

I always argue with some "chauvinist" guys that there are so many cases of beauty and brains combined in one. {They shd actually come meet all my lady blogger friends}
Thinks i over heap praises on her and that she has her negative side. I dont know.

If this aint marriage material, then what is it? My bachelor friends, holla at your boy for a hook up.

September 2010

Apparently some dude read my blog, found out i was dating the sister, and decided we were not worthy being friends anymore. Along went a couple of people i previously regarded friends. All i was charged with was breaking the unwritten bro code.

Anyway, a number of them have returned and things are getting back to normal. Me and the maama, there's definately a big change. She's been abused and scolded for coming between her brother and his friends. I seriously dont see light at the end of the tunnel. Guess i was meant to be a freelance for life. hehe.

But all is well. It pays having a million genuine friends with 800,000 being ladies.

God bless the woman some more.

A memoir to a departed friend

11th July 2010 and many innocent lives were taken by what is believed to be suicide bombers. Amongst them was someone i called a true friend.

Keziron Muwanga William. We met way back in 1997/8 and became instant friends. Just like your name Keziron, you were unique. Never met anyone else with that name, same way ill never get a friend like you.

So long my boy. I vividly remember our last meeting on Friday 9th July 2010. On that evening i decided to stay with family and not with the boys as is the routine. That's the night i run into you. I was happy and suprised to see you that night. I inquired where you'd been as i hadn't seen you in a while. You told me you had just returned from RSA for the world cup semi-finals. You even left your friends for a while and joined us. I remember you talking to my old man and assuring him that all we were left to do in this world was take good care of ourselves as life was too good to loose. (I told him of your passing and he was so hurt).
We didnt stay long but we agreed to meet the following day at Just Kicking and do what we do best, party. Too bad i didnt make it.

Fast forward to Monday 12th July and i receive a call about your disappearance and like most of us would do i brushed it off. I knew you was somewhere working hard as you always did. Work hard, party hard was our unwritten motto.
I tried all your phones but all were off. You were later discovered in the mortuary and the sad news broken to me. I cried........., lived in denial for sometime untill i saw you "sleeping" in that coffin. My man, that "tux", eeh! Was it the one for the wedding? And only 2 cuts on your face, you seemed so fine. I was with you 'till your final resting place. Why am i even explaining myself out, coz i know you were watching down on us.

You really left so soon my boy. So much projects left incomplete. Your one month old child who'll have no sweet memories of his daddy. He'll only hear stories of how a noble man his dad was. The Master's degree you were about to complete. How about all those Min Of Health projects you'd started but never got chance to complete. Your wedding day slatted for December 2010. All i can do is imagine what a glorious day it would have been. Your dad not to mention mom were hit so hard. We all had such huge hopes in you.

12 years have been a very long time. You was like a brother to me. We went through life's stages together. We were so naughty, young and so free.
Some of the moments ill never forget;

-Our first drink at Canada. Remember we even had an anthem.
-How we'd escape and go to watch movies from those local cinemas.
-The not so good looking chics you made passes at and i'd diss you.
-Playing tennis at YMCA.
-Watching basketball at YMCA and Lugogo courts.
-When asked to handout English textbooks, our policy of "boys first" skipping the girls making the teacher so cross and chase us out of the lecture to our delight.
-How we made friends with the ladies in the home economics class so we'd feast on their nice food from the practicals.
-The transday discos at Hotel International Muyenga, Sparks and Roof Top.
-My man, never met a man as cunning as you. Dude, the way you'd hide those summaries; i haha-d. But you saved me those F9s in accounts class.
-The very many names we had for you. Musomesa aka Mpambara from one of our teachers. Was that why you offered Education for a first degree. We all laughed at it as you could never make a teacher.
-How we assured people at school that we had simply enrolled to make friends and people to employ in the future.
-Rememeber when we disbanded our class soccer team coz they were loosing. We named a new tame consisting of only our friends and whoever thought could kick a ball. Luckily we drew one match and won one. We've always been good managers; right?lol
-The way we read hard towards our O'level final examinations. Dude where did you get all those notes from.
-Many a time you bailed me out when i spent my break and lunch money on some ka-chic. haha.
-At school lunches, you always had a way of making it to the front of the line and you'd allow me step in infront of you.
-How we joined the interact club just so we could take trips to other schools. How we mimed a DMX song the 3 of us. But i beat you guys to it seeing that the chics only "screemed" at my part. haha
-Do you rememebr the day some guys mock-married off a ka-girl you liked and we were barred from attending. Dude i missed out on those free eats just cause i was your tight. Bouncers were put in place to keep us at bay.
-That time in school when 2 very old chaps got into a fist fight and you looked for me everywhere on campus so i could witness this tyson-holyfield bout.

And later in our adult life;

-That afternoon at Me! when you introduced your lady and told me you was walking her down the isle.
-The partying at Just Kicking and Rugby club. Too bad you met your death there.
-Those nights with Aggrey when you tried to call me out of bed and i'd refuse. You called me all kinds of names but it was okay as i knew it was friendly fire.
-The stupid prank you and Afande Mbareba pulled on me. BTW i'll never forgive you guys.
-You always updated me on all those people i hadn't seen in a long time.
-You never introduced me to any of those UCU ladies and yet you were supposed to be our ambassador there.
-You always gave me personal and biz advise and most of it was on point. I should have bought one of those Min. of Health cars at a laughable price.

And what i believe was your greatest quality in life, PATIENCE. You took your time in whatever you did. You never did anything in a rush nor rushed people into doing things. More to that, i never ever saw you get cross with anyone. You always had a smile in place. I wish there was a way you would have passed on that quality before you departed this crazy world of ours.

R.I.P my good friend and please grab a place for me. Am so glad to have met someone like you in my life; 12years aint small.

To the Al'shabab rebels, you got it right. You hit where it hurt most.

And to the other innocent lives taken, we mourn till we join you.
Angela Namara, only golden memories.

Random

Am tired of always starting my posts with ".....Its been a while since............"

I didnt post anything all through the month of April. This time it aint Mrs. Blogcks to blame; its TWITTER. With twitter i interact with a good number of the bloggren on a daily. This makes it hard to put up a full blogpost.

April was an interesting month. Apart from the too much work. I badly need some rest by the way. Coming to 2 years now and i report to office on every working day. Believe me even the paid leave aint helping a thing. Need to take annual work leave just like all normal working people. Problem here am the MD, CEO, Accountant, HRM, Operations Manager, tea man, photocopier, etc of our small firm. So if i took leave all these departments shall collapse.

Through the rigorous socialising, ive also made a few more friends. This included a local celeb if Ug TV presenters count for celebs (But our Lulu is a celeb no debate on that). Oke, all the nice, eloquent, intelligent, confident TV presenters are celebs; right?
Proud to state that the fine young lady that presents Showtime on one of the local TVs is my bosom friend. We got along so well from day one. Very nice intelligent beautiful young lady. The KB (do people still use that word?) flowed so well and she told me she does a show on TV. First thought was one of those budding TV stations but wasn't the case. You see my TV is choosy so it doesnt pick the signal of some stations while doing an auto search so i watch very little TV.

I have also picked up on a not so cool habit of GAMBLING. Of late my most frequented websites are sba.com, vitibet.com, mybetworld.com, soccernet.com, sportsresults.com, etc. That's for sports betting. I had resisted joining sports betting untill one guy nailed a jackpot of 1.3m ugx off ugx 5,000. Would you regard me as a greedy person for i want to also win some big money off my little bet!

Then there is the casino. Pyramids casino. Thought gambling was for the super rich but not so true. These guys have chewed a fair share of my hard earned money. However, i also always make sure i consume a fairly proportional amount of their drinks seeing that while on table all drinks come free. Actually on a loosing day, i make a mental calculation of the money lost and order for drinks twice that amount. haha. Am not a bad looser afterall. That way it appears like i spent the money on a normal night out. It also makes me look cool when in company of "some" ladies.Reminds me of those primary school science books on reasons why people smoke and drink alcohol........to look cool".

American and not Russian Roulette is my favourite gambling game and number 23 from jny23ug is my favourite number although its never lucky for me. But i insist as i know i'll one day hit a jackpot and quit.

By the way it feels better loosing money trying to win some more than buying some very hiked and hyped beer prices at Cayenne and Boda boda bar.

So what you guys been up to? BLESS.............

Life is good.

March is fast coming to an end and no new posting. Just a few highlights of my escapades in the past few days.

Am so lucky Giko's candle never burned out so i was able to make that trip to Kigali. Met her and Sibo. Shared a drink and some quality time.

Was meant to be a part of my boy's gusaba/kwanjula/kuhingira/introduction/traditional wedding entourage, but we only met a day after in the drink house. Crazy, right? Blame it on the......sorry am not good at remembering names.

Just like on my previous visits to that country, I still lost the battle to Mutziig beer. Could it be the next best beer after Nile Gold.

Kigali is such a small town. I met almost all the people i know in that country in just one night. At a house drink up, the bar Sundowner and in the club KBC.

Made new beautiful french speaking friends 4 of whom are planning a trip to Kampala come April. Apart from their not so good English language (which sounds so sexy though), they are such kids. At 20years one is deemed an adult, but that aint true. It should be moved to at least 25years.

Took some lovely shots in Rwanda but was made to take an oath of secrecy before my return. However, that can be broken if you got MAFARANGA. Money is power you know.

My man Normzo for not spilling what i saw in Rwanda, i'll introduce you to my little french speaking friends when they come to Kampala. Deal?

On my return, i happened to meet another lovely blogger from Kibaki's land but working in Uganda at the moment. Thanks PeeKayW for inviting me over for that farewell party at your crib. It was fun.

At the moment a very close friend is out of the country for a week. Boy do i miss her so much. Thank God for messenger for i dont know how much harder it would have been. Ever been so happy to speak/chat with someone that you are always fighting not to use the L-word on them.

Easter weekend is fast approaching. Road trip, Kla to Kigali all the way to Bujumbura. Anyone want in?

Otherwise, BHH today. All routes point that way.................BBQ Lounge.

Be good ya'll and take care.

2010 its just a few months.

Its been a while since i was last here.

The year 2010 is yet to bring in any disappointments.

Work is good. Too much work but that's okay as more work means more money thus living the Ug dream. Clients from heaven and hell; ive met them all.

Advertisment break....
"Anyone in need of freight services i.e both sea and airfreight from all parts of the world, you know who to call"....end of kalango(read advert).

Been to extremes in life. The other day i mused at selef after realising how unconsciously i'd become a kayungilizi (read broker) of sorts. Selling land at the shores of lake victoria, another plot in Jinja, Nalya and a house in Namanve. Dude, it aint easy being a guy as brokeness is a no-no. And this aint my normal line of operation. Just helping out friends and the dimes ofcourse.

Had to cancel 2 trips to the land of 1000 hills. Missed out on those beautiful belles(does anyone still refer to ladies that way?). Ma'bad to the guys down in Kigali for i aint coming to see you. I am on invitation of the ladies so its only them that i'll be hanging with. Normzo, i have to make you feel so jealous one day soon.

And oh yeah, i have a lady friend with whom we are getting so close by the day. All naughty and stuff but it aint our fault.

Right now its lent season and people are fasting/ keeping away from things they really love. Listened to so many crazy resolutions and the craziest was "not having sex during the day time." I for one am not going to taste soda throught the lent period. Yes soda, coz on average i take like 3 sodas a day. My friend its not going to be easy.

Thats what's up on my side; yours?

See you all on the twitter side.
